The launcher cannot log you in if Xbox on this PC is lying about who you are.

Windows Store, Xbox app, Gaming Services, and Xbox Identity Provider have to share one Microsoft account. Public Q&A threads in 2025–2026 repeat that stack more than “reinstall Minecraft.”

Repair order (non-destructive first)

  1. Sign out of Microsoft Store and the Xbox app. Reboot. Sign into Store first, then Xbox, then the launcher — same account that owns the game.
  2. Settings → Time → sync clock. Broken TLS follows wrong time.
  3. Store → Library → Get updates for Gaming Services, Xbox, Identity Provider, and Minecraft Launcher.
  4. Run Microsoft’s Gaming Services repair tool.
  5. Windows Settings → Apps → Minecraft Launcher → Advanced → Repair, then Reset if Repair does nothing.

Token folders and PowerShell

Community answers often mention clearing Xbox Identity Provider TokenBroker cache or re-registering Gaming Services with PowerShell. Those steps can help a broken Windows profile; they can also make a managed school PC worse. Try them only if you are an admin on your own machine, and prefer Microsoft’s repair tool first.
